Dear friend,
There was not Alpha meditation at all in ancient time. The name, “Alpha meditation” is a new “term”. Almost all meditations are manifested as Alpha waves in certain period of meditation. So the key things are with certain posture, closing your eyes slightly, relaxing your body, slowing down your breath and discharging the distracting thoughts. Then Alpha waves will be predominant among your brain-waves. Predominance of alpha wave means your body and mind being relaxed, which is a good treatment for stress, a modern suffering. Alpha state is the first step for approaching Nothingness. There were many related published articles in Chinese during 1980s.
